Beneath this fiery display, softer veils of blue-grey and ivory clouds gather above the horizon, creating a striking contrast between warmth and coolness. A slender line of light separates the sea from the sky, while the still water below reflects the sunset in delicate bands of deep burgundy, violet, and muted blue, lending the composition a remarkable sense of depth and tranquillity.

Rather than painting from photographs, Jack Davis works directly from his experience of the dramatic coastline surrounding his home in St Just, Cornwall. A tutor at the Newlyn School of Art and an internationally recognised, award-winning artist, Davis has exhibited widely and is celebrated for creating atmospheric seascapes that evoke not only the appearance of the landscape but also its emotion, energy, and timeless beauty.
