Explore the remarkable artistry of English painter and printmaker, Patrick Caulfield. Renowned for his bold images and strikingly graphic style, Caulfield was known for his ability to distil objects and scenes into their simplest forms, accompanied by solid blocks of vibrant colour.
In 1964, Caulfield gained recognition when his works were featured in the prestigious New Generation show at the Whitechapel Gallery in London. The following year, he achieved further acclaim by receiving the Prix des Jeunes Artistes at the Paris Biennale.
In 1987, Caulfield's exceptional talent was acknowledged once again as he was nominated for the Turner Prize. The nomination came as a result of his captivating exhibition titled "The Artist's Eye" held at the National Gallery.
