White
The colour of freshly fallen snow, cotton sheets, or the pages in an empty sketchbook, white has a unique status as the only ‘colour’ that is achromatic or has no hue. This means that it can be used to create a sense of space, but that it can also introduce light into a painting, either by representing a light source or providing the breathing space for the other colours to reflect and radiate their own light.
