Artwork Description:

Size:28 x 21 in.

Andrew Tozer’s A Great Day Sailing (Helford Village), measuring 24 x 17 inches, is a vibrant celebration of Cornwall’s idyllic coastal charm. This plein air painting captures the luminous interplay of light on the Helford River, the cheerful colours of sailboats gliding on calm waters, and the verdant beauty of the surrounding village. The dynamic brushstrokes and rich palette convey the energy and tranquillity of a perfect day by the water, immersing viewers in the scene's serenity and joy.

Andrew Tozer is renowned for his ability to evoke the light, atmosphere, and essence of Cornwall’s landscapes. A graduate of the University of Westminster and Central St. Martin’s, Tozer honed his plein air technique along the Thames before returning to Cornwall in 1998. His deeply personal approach involves capturing not just the visual elements of a scene but its emotional resonance, freeing his work from literal interpretations and embracing the spirit of the place.

Tozer’s work has been widely exhibited across the UK and internationally, with collectors including Rosamunde Pilcher and Lord Hutton of Furness. Falmouth Art Gallery holds two of his pieces in their permanent collection. Tozer’s paintings continue to captivate audiences with their radiant depiction of life’s fleeting yet meaningful moments.
