Summer Moments
Thousands of photographs will be taken this summer. Most will stay on our phones, glanced at once or twice before disappearing into an endless stream of images. Yet every now and then, there is a moment that deserves something more.
Doug Hyde’s joyful new Snapshots of Summer collection is inspired by exactly those moments. A day by the sea. Time with family. Adventures with friends. The memories that continue to make us smile long after the holiday has ended. His paintings remind us that while photographs record where we were, art has a remarkable ability to preserve just how those moments felt.

But the perfect summer moment means something different to everyone.
For some, it is the excitement of discovering somewhere new. Fabian Perez’s atmospheric Venice invites us to wander moonlit canals, while Henderson Cisz, Peter J. Rodgers and Tom Butler celebrate some of the world’s best-loved cities, from Paris and Rome to New York, each viewed through a wonderfully individual artistic lens. Others find their perfect day much closer to home, where Sherree Valentine Daines captures the elegance of an English summer through garden parties, regattas and afternoons spent with family and friends.
Sometimes, however, the most memorable moments aren’t the adventurous ones at all. They’re the quieter ones that allow us to slow down, reflect and simply appreciate the world around us. Michael Rumsby’s tranquil interiors, for instance, encourage us to pause and look beyond an open window towards a distant horizon, while Damien Hirst’s vibrant Secrets series immerses us in glorious floral landscapes drawn from hidden gardens in full bloom.

Then there is water, perhaps the defining backdrop to so many of our favourite summer memories. Philip Gray celebrates its exhilarating power through dramatic coastlines and crashing waves, while Antonio Sannino and Rebecca Lardner remind us of gentler pleasures beside the sea, where sparkling harbours and colourful beaches invite us to stay a little longer. Jonjo Elliott’s elegant poolside scenes capture a different kind of escape altogether: peaceful, sun-drenched afternoons where time seems to stand still and the hours stretch blissfully ahead.
And of course, no summer could be complete without a little colour and optimism. Enter Mr Brainwash, who proves that the familiar can be just as exciting as the far-flung, transforming iconic streets and landmarks into exuberant celebrations of positivity and possibility. His work reminds us that sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective to make everyday moments feel extraordinary.
