Los Angeles–based artist Hijack bridges the worlds of street art and contemporary painting, creating bold, thought-provoking works that blend humour, social commentary and graphic precision.
At the heart of Hijack’s practice is a faceless universal figure that steps into classical imagery, breaks free from frames, or navigates contemporary life. Without a defined identity the character becomes a mirror for the viewer as the artist explores themes of identity, technology, environmental urgency and the pressures of modern life.
Hijack
Los Angeles–based artist Hijack has carved out a distinctive position at the intersection of street art and contemporary painting, creating a body of work that is as visually immediate as it is socially charged. Emerging anonymously on the streets of L.A. in his teens, he built an early reputation through stencilled interventions placed in the city’s busiest corridors, moments of reflection inserted into the rush of urban life. These early works established the foundations of his practice: a blend of humour, poignancy and cultural critique, articulated through an instantly recognisable graphic clarity.
Original Mixed Media on Board
56 x 72"
An LA street art insider, Hijack grew up surrounded by influences including Banksy, Shepard Fairey, and his father Mr Brainwash. Like them he works across spray paint, oils, stencil and mixed media, blending the raw energy of street art with the precision of contemporary studio practice in a style which remains fluid and experimental.
Hijack doesn’t begin with control - he begins with disruption. By colliding oil painting and woodcut, each work turns chaos into meaning through discipline, tension, and visible struggle.
Accessible and collectable, these works make confident statement pieces and compelling focal points for modern living spaces.
