Dan Life

Daniel Jacob, known professionally as Dan Life, is a Los Angeles-based multi-media artist celebrated for his Swarovski crystal-encrusted sculptures and pop-infused visual narratives. Drawing from a childhood steeped in American pop culture, Life reimagines icons of media, nostalgia, and consumerism through a lens that is both playful and provocative. Life’s practice seeks to explore identity through the channels of media and consumerism. Flanked with recognizable characters, his work is a reconstruction of “pop history”, serving as both a criticism against and celebration for all of the complications embedded within modern Americana.

Dan Life Biography

His signature use of hand-set Swarovski crystals in clay often numbering in the hundreds of thousands for his iconic sculptures, transforms familiar figures into dazzling artifacts of modern mythology. Crystals act as a physical touchstone throughout the artist's ever evolving body of work. Mirroring Pavé, Life’s borrowing of a technique typically reserved for the making of jewelry sets the tone for a ripple of juxtapositions deeply embedded into his practice. His intricate process of individually setting each stone by hand can take anywhere from several months up to a year, with larger sculptures requiring hundreds of thousands of stones.

Collected by cultural heavyweights like JAY-Z, Shakira, Bad Bunny, and the Michael Jordan family, and featured in Forbes, Hypebeast, and Complex, Dan Life’s art is as coveted as it is culturally resonant.
