Working with an unconventional array of materials and processes including spray paint, screen printing, markers, and even US currency, Allen offers a fresh take on the Pop art movement, reimagining his subject matter for a 21st Century audience. Music plays a pivotal role in his creative process, and each brushstroke, sprayed form or carefully chosen colour reflects his mood and energy as he explores themes of community, identity, and the challenges of the urban landscape. Abstract and figurative elements collide to create exhilarating but thought-provoking celebrations of contemporary culture which invite us to engage on a deeper level and question the values and suppositions of a consumer society.
Now based in Cornwall, Allen is originally from Brighton; he was immersed in the street art scene from a young age and this shaped his unique artistic style. His recent works include large-scale murals and paintings which are both bold and approachable. His in-depth understanding of today’s popular culture has earned him considerable international acclaim and success, and as well as enjoying successful exhibitions in such exotic locales as Miami, Hong Kong, Sydney and Seoul, he has been featured in leading publications such as Design Week, GQ and Time Out.
By expertly combining pop art techniques with modern subject matter, Ben has developed a fresh and distinctive signature style that has won him collectors including such big names as Richard Branson, Jade Jagger, Sophie Ellis Bextor and Erick Morrilo. He has also undertaken bespoke projects across the globe, collaborating with renowned clients and high-end brands including NME, Virgin, Converse and The Amy Winehouse Foundation. In 2018 he was shortlisted for the Rise Art Prize.
“Create to rebel, to be empowered, to be part of something bigger than yourself.
I don't want to tell people what they're looking at, I want them to find something they connect with - visually and emotionally.”
