Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006)
We are committed to ensuring that we remain compliant with the standards set by Maritime Labour Convention (MLC 2006) and as such we confirm that as an employer;
- We do not use means, mechanisms or lists intended to prevent or deter seafarers from gaining employment for which they are qualified;
- We do not charge fees of any form to seafarers directly or indirectly for providing employment or placement.
- Any Visa fee incurred by the seafarer will be reimbursed by DMFA or the Shipowner
- We will ensure that seafarers recruited or placed are qualified for the job concerned and undertake reference checks to provide assurance
- We keep an up-to-date register of seafarers recruited or placed through us at all times
- We adhere to all components of the Data Protection Act 1998 including storing all seafarer information on a secure and protected system
- All of our contracts of employment are in accordance with applicable laws and regulations
- We take complaints very seriously and our full procedure can be viewed in our Employee Handbook.
- We ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, that the owner/ management company/ Captain has the means to protect seafarers from being stranded in a foreign port
- We have a self-insurance measure in place to ensure that seafarers are compensated for monetary loss that may be incurred by a seafarer as a result of DMFA or the Shipowner failing to meet the obligations set out in the Seafarer’s Engagement Agreement;
- Permanent – cover any liabilities that arise within 2 months of the seafarer being placed with the shipowner; and
- Cover any liabilities or arrears that may arise and accrue over a 2 month period from the date of occurrence.
- Contract – Cover any liabilities that arise during the entire duration while the seafarer is placed with the shipowner; and
- Cover any liabilities or arrears that may arise and accrue over a 2 month period from the date of occurrence.
