Dave White is one of the UK’s most dynamic and influential contemporary artists, with an energetic signature style, characterised by sweeping brushstrokes, bold mark making, and loose splashes of colour. Over the last 20 years he has brought his expressive encounters with wildlife into the world of urban culture in some unexpected ways, collaborating on limited editions with Nike and Jordan amongst others, establishing him as a major figure on the international art scene.
White is passionate about making each limited edition unique and giving it the texture and surface of an original through an organic process of artisan hand-embellishment. Working in watercolours or oils, White has a deceptively free technique which brings an authenticity and dynamic emotional depth to every subject.
In 2002, Dave White showed a different side of his artistry when he pioneered the 'Sneaker Art' movement, bringing together nature and pop culture. This led to collaborations with Size? and Nike to create limited edition pairs of Nike Air Max (AM95DWs), and a commission to design the Air Jordan I 'WING's Gold sneakers. In recent years, White has continued to captivate audiences with his evolving style and deepening commitment to wildlife and environmental themes, and alongside this, in 2023 he celebrated 20 years of his ‘sneaker works’ at Liverpool’s Walker Art Gallery.
