Artwork Description:

Julien Marinetti’s Skull, measuring 13 x 15 inches, is a radiant meditation on life and impermanence, filtered through the artist’s distinctive fusion of painting and sculpture. Cloaked in layers of vibrant colour—turquoise, rose pink, crimson, and violet—the piece pulses with energy and contradiction. The anatomical precision of the skull is softened and disrupted by spontaneous brushstrokes, gold accents, etched figures and hand-drawn motifs that appear like memories or whispered thoughts across the surface. A central purple orb sits atop the cranium, adding a sense of surreal mysticism to an already emotionally charged form.

Marinetti’s creative practice is rooted in instinct, allowing the work to evolve organically in the studio. He uses familiar forms—like the human skull—not to symbolise a fixed meaning, but as vessels for emotional and visual exploration. His influences range from classical sculpture to street art, with each work resisting easy classification. For Marinetti, the physical and emotional are inseparable; his sculpture is not designed to be decoded but to be felt.

Despite international acclaim, Marinetti remains devoted to the process of making and frequently donates works to charitable causes without seeking recognition. In Skull, he captures a moment of visual tension and timeless humanity—raw, vital, and undeniably his own.

About Julien Marinetti

Julien Marinetti

Julien Marinetti is a French painter and sculptor best known for fusing the two disciplines in bold, expressive works that blur the line between object and image. Based in Paris and trained at the Atelier de la Grande Chaumière, he spent years refining his skills in life drawing and classical oil painting before developing the distinctive style that now defines his work.

Marinetti treats sculpture as a three-dimensional canvas. His most recognisable figures are brought to life with layers of vivid acrylic paint, lacquer, and transparent resin. Each piece becomes a dynamic surface for experimentation, where colour, composition, and form interact in a way that feels spontaneous yet intentional.
