Artwork Description:
Size:53 x 30 in

Step into the evocative urban landscape of 'Across The Bridge At Canary Wharf', a captivating original painting by renowned artist Keith Athay. This stunning piece, elegantly framed in Lymed Whitewash Floating, measures an impressive 53 x 30 inches and offers a unique portrayal of one of London's most dynamic financial districts.

Athay masterfully combines mixed media techniques to create a cityscape that is both abstract and steeped in history. A focal point of the artwork, the suspension bridge arches gracefully across a shimmering river, connecting two vibrant areas of the city. Tiny figures can be seen traversing the bridge, adding a human scale to the grandeur of the urban setting.

The palette is rich with sepia undertones—honeyed ambers blend seamlessly with muted greens and soft blues, creating an atmosphere that feels at once nostalgic and contemporary. Hints of sage green and aquamarine add depth to this layered composition, evoking the various stages of urban development over time.

Athay's signature technique involves embedding historical references within his work—vintage technical drawings and architectural plans emerge from beneath translucent layers of paint, inviting viewers on a journey through time. The reflection on water adds another dimension to this thought-provoking piece, making it not just an artwork but a narrative woven with elements of past and present.

'Across The Bridge At Canary Wharf' transcends traditional cityscapes by merging technical schematics with modern metropolitan beauty. It's perfect for collectors who appreciate art that tells a story—one where every glance reveals something new against the canvas’s textured backdrop. Own this mesmerizing depiction by Keith Athay and let it transport you to London’s heart through its intricate details and historical depths.

About Keith Athay

Keith Athay

Keith ‘Kitt’ Athay has been an established seascape and abstract artist for over 20 years, exhibiting his contemporary collages extensively in the UK, and also internationally, in New York and the Hamptons, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Singapore.

Athay had what he describes as a ‘Huck Finn’ childhood in Somerset, which set his lifelong passion for being outdoors. An innate love of experimenting with different textures and materials turned him into an artist at a young age, and he studied at Bath College and the University of South Wales.

Kitt attaches materials such as sheet music, historic maps, poems, botanical diagrams and newspaper cuttings to canvases to create a background for his artwork. The viewer initially sees a coastal scene but on closer inspection they discover a whole, world of text and illustration lying beneath the paint layers, exciting the senses and taking them on a voyage of discovery and limitless adventure.
