Julian Opie
Julian Opie is a British contemporary artist best known for his distinctive minimalist style, which reduces people, landscapes, and everyday objects to bold outlines, simplified shapes and flat areas of colour. Born in London and raised in Oxford, Opie studied at Goldsmiths where he was taught by conceptual artist Michael Craig-Martin, whose emphasis on clarity of ideas and visual communication had a lasting influence on his work. Opie first gained recognition in the 1980s as part of a new generation of British artists who challenged traditional approaches to painting and sculpture.
